Q: What is the process for creating my genetic self-portrait, from start to finish?
A: A DNA profiling test is a complicated process involving many steps. Fortunately, the easiest step involves you.
- Using a sterile swab that we provide, gently rub the inside of your mouth against the cheek. This collects your buccal cells for analysis.
- Transfer the swab material to the special patented card and the card will turn from white to pink indicating a successful transfer.
- Mail in the card using our prepaid envelope.
- We extract and isolate your DNA from the buccal cheek cells provided on the card.
- Using your DNA profile, we utilize our patent pending process to render your DNA markers to the art format you choose.
Q: What format does my genetic self-portrait come in?
A: You can choose print, 2D lead crystal or canvas format. Prints are available in 4.5” x 13” and 3.5” x 9” sizing and may be ordered with matting and frame options. Canvases are special order at this time. Please contact us for sizing and pricing. 2D Lead Crystal sculptures come in two sizes; 75 mm x 175 mm x 19 mm and 55mm x 135 mm x 19 mm.
Q: How long will it take to receive my portrait?

Q: Can I get a genetic portrait of my pet?
A: Yes, it’s the same process for a pet as for a human. An oral swab is used to collect your pet’s DNA sample. Genetic pet portraits make a truly unique gift for the dog or cat lover in your family.
Q: Can the genetic material collected be used for legal or medical purposes?
A: No. The resultant patterns collected are not detailed enough to be analyzed for genetic defects, or for use in paternity suits or any other legal matters.
Q: Who will have access to my genetic sample?
A: Your DNA sample will remain your property. DNA-Artistry™ is owned by Vital Science Products, LLC. Three months after sending your genetic self-portrait artwork to you, Vital Science will destroy the sample following strict medical guidelines. Vital Science believes in your right to privacy. We do not share any of your information with third-parties. We have strict protocols in place to secure your information.
Q: Do you accept product returns?
A: Due to the product’s personalized nature we are unable to accept any returns, however. We will replace any product damaged during shipping.
Q: How do you sign the art pieces?
A: Your parents are the true artists. We imbed every art piece (except Lead Crystal Sculptures) with your amplified DNA. That piece can never be duplicated without your consent or knowledge. Now that is a 100% original piece.
Q: How do I give this as a gift?
A: Just purchase the format you want to give and we will send you the kit that is suitable for wrapping. This will be a unique gift that they will love.
Q: How do you store my DNA fingerprint images?
A: We retain the images for 3 months on a secure offline sever. (No connection to the internet.) We do this in case you want to order some additional product; you will not incur an additional set-up fee. We will also upon request at any time delete those files.
Q: Will DNA-Artistry have the right to publish any work?
A: NO --- not without your expressed consent. Your print remains your property.
